Doors From my Childhood

For this project, I wanted to photograph the most important doors of my childhood. This included my house, my grandparents’ house, my friend’s house, and other doors where I frequently entered as a child. Where and when I decided to set up the camera to take the photo is how I remember walking or driving up to the doors and my emotions associated with it. How I color graded these photos is also how I remember feeling entering them.

My three favorite doors, and which resonate the most with me are driving up to my grandparents’ house in the evening for dinners, walking up to my neighbor’s house in the mornings asking her to play, and going to my piano lessons in the dark after school during the winters.

I am excited to continue this project because I know that there are many more than nine doors that I would walk through frequently when I was younger, but these nine really stood out to me over the years.
